Callum Ferguson began his working life as a gamekeeper before being offered a job as a wildlife manager for a private forestry company where he was in charge of 6000 hectares of forestry in the Borders. He was always interested in accuracy and gave up his stalking career to work at Border Barrels Ltd based in Newcastleton to gain some experience on how to manufacture and fit matchgrade barrels. He felt strongly that he wanted to go further down the accuracy road and, together with his wife Yvonne, decided to set up a business which would concentrate on building custom rifles capable of benchrest quality accuracy. Precision Rifle Services was thus formed in 1990. This unique combination of practical knowledge of shooting gleaned from his years as a stalker along with up to date accuracy manufacturing techniques has insured that the company has went from strength to strength.
“We build rifles to consistently provide extreme accuracy whether they are for hunting or competition. They are proven, on both shooting range and in the field, to be amongst the most accurate available. Each rifle is built to the customers specification.
Their quality is dependant on utilising modern methods of production. As with many things in life, a rifle is only as good as the components, tools and expertise used in its creation. Our components are purchased from specialist manufacturers who, like ourselves, take great care and pride in their work.
Customer care is very high on our list of priorities and we encourage all our customers to get involved with their rifle projects and to keep in touch afterwards”
Precision Rifle Services is very much a family business and we take great pride in our work. We have two sons called Craig & Lee who are a bit young to be working on your rifles yet but hopefully in the future they will step into their fathers footsteps.
Our workshops are based at Strathavon Lodge which is an old shooting lodge set deep in the heart of Whisky country in the Highlands of Scotland. As the seasons pass we can see everything from salmon fishing to pheasant shooting from our windows.
Visitors are always welcome to come and see our workshops but we do recommend that you ring and make an appointment.
